Blues & jazz — sounds of the soul will fill Festival Park on Oct. 20. Thanks to support from the City of Washington, Beaufort County Government, Nutrien and Washington (noon) Rotary, Arts of the Pamlico will offer its 2^nd-annual Blues & Jazz Festival on the waterfront.

This all-day, free concert in the gazebo starts at 9:30 a.m.

Four bands will take the stage between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The lineup is as follows: 9:30 a.m., Squier Red, a nine-man, high energy group; 11:15 a.m., Steve Creech Jazz Band, a 6 man band adding horns and classics; 1 p.m. Southern Fried Blues, another nine-man band, pumping out deep fried blues; and 2:45 p.m., No Right Turn, a trio led by the amazing vocalist and guitarist Wayne Stoeckert.

Tips for the Bands are always welcome!

AOP’s 9-hole Pirate Putt Putt course will be available to play by the gazebo from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at no charge, while you listen and dance to the music. East Carolina University intern Tyler Whitley will be at Hole No. 1, ready to help you chart your course. The putt putt course is free, donations appreciated!

Want to hear more great live music? Come out Sunday for out Hispanic Heritage celebration on stage at the Turnage Theatre. Doors open at 1 p.m. for music and dance performances. Looking for more blues and jazz? Steve Creech & Friends are in the Turnage Gallery on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. It’s free, though donations and tips for the band appreciated.
