A grant was awarded recently that will provide a card access system at Columbia Middle School, Dr. Travis Twiford, interim superintendent, stated.
The card access system is similar to the one currently in operation at Columbia High School.
The latest installation will result in all building entrances on the campus at the high school and middle school will be controlled by a card access system.
Money to pay for the card access system comes from a school safety program approved by the North Carolina General Assembly, Dr. Twiford explained.
