Two 4-H special interest (SPIN) clubs have organized in Tyrrell County, reports Lauren Nelson, 4-H agent in the Cooperative Extension Service.

A 4-H SPIN Club is a 6-week special interest club for youths 5-18 years old, she explained. The clubs focus on a particular interest, which can be about almost anything. Members meet for an hour once a week on a subject that interests them.

Want to start your own club about something you’re passionate about? All you need is an adult and at least five youths to participate.

Listed below are a few opportunities that are forthcoming:

  1. Scuppernong Sprouts, ages 5-8 years, meets Wednesdays starting October 31, 3:30-4:30 p.m., in the Extension Office at 407 Martha Street, Columbia.
  2. Chicken & Rabbit Show, ages 5-18 years, meets Wednesdays starting November 7, 5-6 p.m., Extension Office.
