Two suspects in a Greenville murder are in custody after leading Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a chase Saturday from Blounts Creek to Chocowinity. One of the suspects was wounded by a gunshot in the ensuing confrontation.

According to the Greenville Police Department, Billy Earl Grizzard III, age 30, of Simpson, has been charged with an open count of murder for the shooting death of Seth Nicholas Street, age 19, of Greenville. Grizzard’s girlfriend, Kellie Anne Moseley, age 30, has been charged with accessory after the fact in connection to the crime.

According to call records from the Greenville Police Department, at approximately 4:53 p.m. on Saturday, GPD officers were dispatched to the Harris Teeter at 2120 East Fire Tower Road in reference to shots fired.

According to a press release from the GPD, an off-duty Greenville police officer was first to arrive on scene and discovered a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The off-duty officer rendered first aid until Greenville Fire-Rescue arrived on scene and transported the victim to Vidant Medical Center. The victim sustained serious injuries.

The GPD release goes on to say that preliminary information provided by witnesses on scene indicated the shooting was the result of a dispute between individuals who were known to each other. According to a second release issued at 11 p.m., Street died from his injuries later that evening.

According to a release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the agency received information regarding Grizzard and Moseley’s whereabouts on Saturday evening, indicating that they were in the Blounts Creek area.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the release states that deputies and officers located Grizzard and Moseley while they were exiting a house that they had broken into and vandalized. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but had to pursue the vehicle from Blounts Creek to Chocowinity.

According to the BCSO release, Grizzard was shot in the arm during the arrest. Both Grizzard and Moseley were taken into custody and medically treated at Vidant Beaufort in Washington. Grizzard was transferred to Vidant in Greenville. Both Grizzard and Moseley were taken into custody by the Greenville Police Department. The BCSO release states that additional charges will be filed in Beaufort County. According to the BCSO, the deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave and the incident is being investigated by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, which is a standard protocol.

As of Monday, Moseley was being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $200,000 bond, while Grizzard was at Vidant Medical Center.
