Vincent Ray Barr

Mr. Vincent “Ray” Barr, age 60, a resident of Chocowinity, died Saturday Oct. 20, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 at the Barr Family Cemetery located at 2757 Gray Road, Chocowinity. The service will be officiated by Pastor Daniel Hasket. Howard Lilley, Toby Cole, Sammy Deans, Jimmy Matthews, Grey Clark and Larry Howard will serve as pallbearers. Perry Hardison will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
Ray was born in Beaufort County on March 24, 1958 son of the late Barney Ernest “Tommy” Barr, Jr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Jones Barr. He was a 1976 graduate of Chocowinity High School and worked for thirty-eight years at Hackney Truck Bodies of Washington. On July 2, 2016 he married the former Patty Lou Furman. Ray was an outdoorsman who loved fishing.
Surviving along with his wife, Patty of the home are three sons: Dusty Ray Barr and wife Jillian of Roanoke Rapids, Thomas Ray Barr of Chocowinity and Nicholas Barr of South Dakota; a step-son: Luke William Mitchell and wife Leena of Harrisonburg, VA; a stepdaughter: Amy Mitchell Smith and husband Michael of Concord; a sister: Tina B. Morris and husband Don of Chocowinity; a brother: Jay Barr and wife Kim of Chocowinity; a sister-in-law: Carion C. Barr of Chocowinity; a granddaughter: Paisley Ann Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: James Eli Barr.
