Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram has expressed his appreciation to Tyrrell Sheriff Darryl Liverman and four Tyrrell deputies who went to Lenoir County following Hurricane Florence’s devastating passage through eastern North Carolina.

Sgt. Raymond Allen, Sgt. Kevin Sawyer, and Deputies Lance Howell and Alex Liverman worked in Lenoir County Sept. 16-20.

“We want to extend our thanks and most heartfelt gratitude for the help from you and your staff,” Sheriff Ingram wrote. “Your deputies were such a great asset in this extremely stressful time.

“They worked nonstop in any capacity that was needed or asked of them,” the sheriff stated. “We went them to know that leaving their families and coming into this storm, and the flooding that came with it, did not go unnoticed and was so appreciated. I extend a thank you to each and every one of them.”

The four Tyrrell officers patrolled with Lenoir County deputies and provided security at distribution sites where food, water, ice, and other items were given out to disaster victims.

The officers were initially assigned to Bladen County but were not able to go there because of flooding.

“The members of the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office were proud to help their fellow man in their time of need,” stated Sheriff Darryl Liverman. “It could easily have been Tyrrell County that needed the help, and my fellow sheriffs would have responded to the call just as we did.”

Sheriff Liverman placed his personnel and equipment on call after the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association activated its statewide Disaster Assistance Network.
