BCCC to offer drone agribusiness seminar

On Friday, Dec. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Beaufort County Community College will offer a seminar on starting a drone services business at the Hyde Davis Center in Englehard.

This seminar is intended for those folks who want to start a drone services agribusiness, a rapidly growing industry.Participants will learn about setting up a successful and legal drone business, what it takes to obtain a commercial drone pilot license, types of drone equipment available and the most profitable market segments such as agribusiness, construction site management, survey and mapping, disaster search and recovery support and post storm damage assessments.

Probyn ‘Probe’ Thompson is President and CEO of Air Probe LLC and will be conducting the seminar. Thompson has over thirty years of demonstrated expertise in planning and executing operations globally for both military and private sector business operations. Thompson retired from active duty U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel after completing over twenty-three years as a fixed wing combat aviator, Attaché, Weapon School / Instructor Pilot, and Air Liaison Officer (ALO) to the U.S. Army.

Thompson trained and deployed to Afghanistan as a private contractor to manage flight operations as a UAV Detachment and Mission Commander supporting U.S. military combat ground operations. He then returned to work in the UAS industry for a UAV manufacturer for four years before founding Air Probe LLC, d.b.a. Air Probe UAV.
