The Salvation Army of Washington has received applications from families requesting Christmas assistance for their children, widely known as The Salvation Army Angel Tree.
“Most of our angels have been adopted by local churches, groups and individuals desiring to help needy children in our area,” said Lt. Teresa Bush, coordinator for the Army’s Angel Tree program in Washington. “We are eternally grateful for the support shown so far, but we are finding that we are coming up short with toys that are needed to supplement angels”
Distribution is scheduled for Dec. 10 to Dec. 12 for Beaufort, Bertie, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington Counties, respectively. The Salvation Army is accepting new and unwrapped toys for children ages birth to 12 years old. Items can be dropped off at the administration office, located at 112 E. 7th St. in Washington, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday though Friday.
