BCCC Foundation awards scholarships

The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following scholarship recipients. The BCCC Foundation anticipates awarding $150,000 in scholarships during the 2018-2019 academic year. New and returning students can register for spring classes now.
Vergenell Anderson, 56, received the Myrtle Cutler Jones Scholarship. The Washington resident is working toward an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Office Administration. A mother of one and daughter of Icelene Person of New York City, she attended D.H. Conley High School and holds an Associate in Science. Anderson currently works at Beaufort County Schools as a bus driver and plans to manage a medical office.
Devin Bunch, 18, received the BLB Scholarship. The Washington resident is working toward an Associate in Science. The daughter of Roy and Mandy Bunch of Washington, she attended Washington High School. Bunch currently works at Tayloe’s Hospital Pharmacy as a clerk/cashier and plans to become a surgeon.
Jessica Chadwick, 28, received the Bunyan Ruritan Club Scholarship. The Winterville resident is a student in the Licensed Practical Nurse program. The daughter of Jesse Chadwick of Winterville, she attended South Central High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Fayetteville State University. Chadwick currently works at Vidant Medical Center as a certified nurse aide/care partner and plans to work as a public health nurse.
Jonah Jordan, 18, received the Albert Jowdy Scholarship. The Pinetown resident is working toward an Associate in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. The son of Edward Jordan of Pinetown and Melonie Lewis of Bath, she attended Northside High School. Jordan currently works at Pizza Inn as a cook and plans to become an electrician.
Evan King, 24, received the Tayloe’s Hospital Pharmacy Scholarship. The daughter of Donald and Sheila King of Winterville, she is part of the Associate Degree in Nursing program. King attended Ayden-Grifton High School, plans become a travel registered nurse, and she earned a bachelor’s degree in 2016. She currently works as a cashier at Lowe’s Home Improvement.
Victoria Mason, 19, received the David Clark Scholarship. Mason is part of the automotive systems technology program. The daughter of Matthew and Karen Mason of Swan Quarter, she currently works in the kitchen at Martelle’s Feed House. The Swan Quarter resident was homeschooled through Bridgman Christian School.
Morgan Peaden, 24, received the Myrtle Cutler Jones and Tayloe Memorial Scholarships. The Washington resident is working toward an Associate Degree in Nursing. The wife of Phillip Peaden, she attended Washington High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Peaden currently works at CiOX Health as a client services representative and plans to become a nurse anesthetist.
Melinda Roberson, 18, received the James Franklin & Hannah Roberson Bagwell Scholarship. Roberson is the daughter of Charley and Mike Peele of Jamesville. She is part of the Associate in Science program, and she attended Riverside High School. She plans to attend the N.C. State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Roberson currently works as a cashier at Dairy Queen.
