Einar Helmers Olsen, Jr.

Born Nov. 28, 1930, Einar Helmers Olsen, Jr. passed away in his sleep at his home in Washington on Dec. 6, 2018. Mr. Olsen immigrated from Bergen, Norway, in 1954 to Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and upon retirement in 1994, relocated to Washington, where he worked part-time for the Beaufort County ABC Board. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, where he served in the U.S. Army. He served for many years in the Civil Air Patrol and participated as a pilot and in many search and rescue roles.
He is survived by his four children and their families: Astrid Colvin, of New Mexico, Michelle Buzzelli, of Mesa, Arizona, James Olsen, of North Carolina, and Andreas (Andy) Helmers Olsen, of the home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Ann Helmers Olsen, and his parents, Einar and Astrid Helmers Olsen, of Bergen, Norway.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at their home, 245 E. Second St.
