Mr. Joe Robert Foster, age 84, a resident of Old Pamlico Beach Road West, Belhaven, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018 at Cross Creek Nursing Home in Swan Quarter.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at Life Gate Free Will Baptist Church, Old Pamlico Beach Road West, Belhaven conducted by Pastor Eric Hill.

Mr. Foster was born in Beaufort County on August 29, 1934. He was the son of the late Caleb Howard Foster and Sally Jane Foster. Mr. Foster served in the Army. He was a retired commercial fisherman. Later, Mr. Foster managed at the Land Fill at Bath.

Mr. Foster was married to the former Margaret Short, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Carl Foster and wife, Sonja of Pamlico Beach, Jimmy Ray Foster of Pantego; a daughter, Becky Jo Bell of the home and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Foster was preceded in death by two grandsons, R. J. Gay and Chris Foster.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
