Howard Walter Cadmus

Howard Walter Cadmus, 65, passed away on Dec. 13, 2018. He was born to the late Howard H. Cadmus and Clara Quist in Passaic, New Jersey. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his military service, he worked as a psychiatric nurse and then became administrator of a large chain of nursing homes. Deciding that he could do this himself, he began buying assisted living facilities; owning eight at one time. In 2007, he opened CEMA, with locations in Washington and Greenville.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sheila Liles Cadmus; son, Howard Dunning Cadmus and Tara; stepsons, John Eckerfield (Cara) and Robert Eckerfield (Misty); grandson, Carter Cadmus; step-grandchildren, Sunny, Brandt and John Eckerfield; sister, Pauline Munn; niece, Sue Geotz, and nephew, David Ruffino.
Howard’s funeral service will be 2 pm, Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Hillside Funeral Service, with Pastor Ric Watford officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hillside. Viewing will also be available during business hours at Hillside. Post condolences on hillsidefunerals.com.
