Mrs. Julia Sparrow Woolard, age 84, a resident of Washington, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at her home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 2, 1934, daughter of the late Stephen Delamar Sparrow, Sr. and the late Emma Jay Sadler Sparrow. She was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School. Following high school, she married Charles Ellis Woolard, Sr. who preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1997. Mrs. Woolard dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She attended Bethany United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters: Lois W. Keeter (Charlie) of Shacklefords, Virginia, and Debra Mellish (Dewight), of Seaford, Virginia; a son, Charles E. Woolard, Jr. (Barbara), of Newport News, Virginia; a brother, Stephen Sparrow(Ellen), of Alaska; a sister-in-law, Deb Sparrow, of Belhaven; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Woolard was predeceased by a brother, Terry Sparrow.
