Frank Emmett Deaner (Pop Pop) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, after a long and courageous bout with cancer.

A celebration of his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Washington on Saturday, Feb 9, 2019, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in Wesley Hall, also located at the First United Methodist Church of Washington.

Frank — lovingly known as “The Dawg” — was born in Huddleston, Virginia. He attended the Virginia Military Institute, Lynchburg College and was a member of the VA Army National Guard. During his 52-year career in sales, he forged a legion of long-lasting friendships. He was quick to make friends with his outgoing personality and affectionate demeanor but was even quicker to find a golf course. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington where he served as an usher.

Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Missy; son Frank Jr. and wife Kim; and daughter Patricia Tyson and husband Troy; grandchildren, Hannah, Miranda, Frank III, and Madelynne; sister-in-law, Dee Tankard; brothers-in-law, Jesse Harrington and wife Carol, Charles Harrington and wife Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Bertha Deaner; sisters, Lois Deaner Kidd, Alma Deaner Garrett; and brother, Coy Wayne Deaner.

The family is eternally grateful for the passionate care given by his hospice nurses April Bullock, Shellie Cahoon, Shenika Swain as well as his home healthcare nurses Carol Bowden, Wanda Jackson and Brigette Dickson.
