Pets of the Week: Feb. 23, 2019

Published 4:36 pm Friday, February 22, 2019

During the month of February, our local veterinarian hospitals will conduct spaying and neutering procedures at reduced rates for cats and dogs. Appointments, prior to the operation, are necessary, and they are being taken now. Call to make your appointment at one of the following veterinarian hospitals:

  • Chocowinity Veterinary Hospital, 252-946-9000
  • Pamlico Animal Hospital, 252-946-2834
  • Tar River Animal Hospital, 252-946-2417

In addition to the reduced rates, the Humane Society of Beaufort County will give financial assistance where necessary. For more information, call 252-946-1591. This offer is open to residents of Beaufort County.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs and ENC Shelter Cats on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Oasis

This very loving, friendly and gorgeous big guy loves to be petted, played with and loved.

Oasis, an American longhair, bi-color cat is spectacular wearing his magnificent pristine white and pewter gray coat, complete with a mane and plume tail.  At 10 months old, one of the most endearing qualities about Oasis is his love of the human connection, and he will be a welcome addition in a variety of good forever home settings. Once there, he will blossom into a wonderful pet, companion and friend.  Visit Oasis, ID No. 0190, and see for yourself what an outstanding cat he is. He’s available at the shelter.

Molly

Friendly, calm and sweet Molly, a pit bull terrier mix, is pretty with a white and red brindle shorthair coat and her big golden eyes. At 4 years old, this medium-size girl will do best with a loving, attentive and active family who will spend time with her — take her along on their outings, give her plenty of regular exercise and play — preferably in a fenced area or on leash, feed her nutritious food, give her obedience training and, of course, a good forever home. Come meet an adorable dog named Molly, ID No. 0186. She’s available at the shelter.
