This agency serves 15 counties, of which Beaufort County is one. Niederhauser is one of 13 board members who govern the organization. In Beaufort County alone there are, on average, 7,700 food-insecure people, which represents 16.2 percent of the population. Some 1,000-plus pounds of food are distributed yearly, which is the equivalent of 875,174 meals.
