From the Beaufort County Democratic Party

The Beaufort County Democratic Party held its 2019 Convention on March 23, at Beaufort County Community College. More than 80 people were in attendance, including several elected officials. Delegates were elected to attend the Third Congressional District Convention, to be held in LaGrange on May 18. Party officers elected for 2019 to 2021 were Chairperson Elaine Wood, First Vice Chair Keith Mason Jr., Second Vice Chair Marlene McCabe, Third Vice Chair Ben Deck, Laurel Miller Paramore and Treasurer Surry Everett.

Those in attendance heard a very informative speech by Dr. Ginger Garner. Her topic “Democracy is Good For Your Health,” shared information about how important it is for everyone to have access to health care. Garner highlighted the reality that so many health care professionals experience, the late entry into the healthcare system resulting often times in the loss of life when there could have been preventative life saving diagnosis and treatment. Democrats are all emphasizing the important aspects of respecting our environment by keeping our water and air safe, providing quality healthcare for everyone, ensuring a quality education is provided to all of our children. To improving our economy so that all people are able to acquire a job that affords them adequate food and housing and opportunities to advance themselves, Democrats care that all levels of our society are benefitted, not just the top
