Mrs. Lucille H. Rose

Mrs. Lucille Haddock Rose, age 84, a former resident of Pantego and Washington, died Friday, July 8, 2011, at Universal Healthcare in Oxford, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, from the chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington conducted by pastor Kenneth Pritchard. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Jonathan Rose, Cameron Rose, Chris Dennis, Hank Stoop, Allen McRae and Steve Bowden.
Mrs. Rose was born in Terra Ceia, N.C., on Dec. 22, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Haddock and Willie Mae Harrison Haddock Leoni. In 1945, Mrs. Rose married Henry Thomas Rose Jr. She worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s logging contractor business. Mr. Rose preceded her in death July 2, 1978. Mrs. Rose was a member of the First Christian Church in Pantego. She was very active in the Washington Single’s Club where she loved to dance. Mrs. Rose was a loving grandmother. She loved gardening and enjoyed canning and freezing the vegetables she raised as well as sharing them with friends.
Mrs. Rose is survived by one son, Johnny Rose of Greenville; three daughters, Linda Dennis of Bahama, N.C., Lisa Grubbs and husband, Bennie, Donna Alligood and husband, Danny, all of Hurdle Mills, N.C.; five grandchildren, Jonathan Rose, Cameron Rose, Chris Dennis, Sarah Grubbs, Lauren Rose; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Dennis and Abby Dennis; three brothers, Donald Leoni, Ellis Leoni, Cecil “Bud” Haddock Jr. and one sister, Rosemary Stowe.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Faye Rose.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington.
