From The Salvation Army of Washington, NC
The Salvation Army has received $3,200 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed local residents. The organization’s Washington-based center will use the gift to provide food and nutrition education to needy individuals and families in its service area.
“We are very grateful to Food Lion for this generous gift,” said Lt. Karl Bush, officer of the Washington Corps. “This gift will greatly help us to provide hunger relief to our less fortunate neighbors.”
The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in Christ’s name without discrimination. Local programs include food and clothing assistance, rent and utilities assistance, youth programs, disaster relief and spiritual programs.
Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $12 million in grants.
