Laura Caitlyn Whitehurst, 25, of Greenville, died Monday, May 13, 2019.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 7 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service, Friday, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Caitlyn, a Pitt County native, lived all of her life in the Greenville and Pactolus communities. She was a graduate of J.H. Rose High School and had attended Pitt Community College, where she earned a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate. Caitlyn had been working as a nanny, where she had been able to love, nurture and care for a number of children. Caitlyn enjoyed attending Opendoor Church. She also enjoyed coaching a young group of cheerleaders, traveling with her friends and family and spending quality time with her family; often planning the gatherings herself. Her dog, Copper, meant everything to her, and she absolutely adored him. Caitlyn had a big heart, was very giving, and accepted everyone as they were, without discrimination
Caitlyn was preceded in death by an infant sister, Laura Danielle Whitehurst.
She is survived by her mother, Dynita Haislip, and husband, Tom Gottschall; father, Judson Whitehurst and wife Beth; sisters, Logan Whitehurst and April W. Haltigan and husband Kevin, and Shannon Wahlen; brother, Thomas Gottschall; two nieces, Alana and Ireland Haltigan; her “Nana,” Edna Haislip; stepsisters, Madison and Lindsay Acheson; and
stepbrother, Jaryd Acheson.
In lieu of any memorial donations, flowers are encouraged, as Caitlyn loved all things beautiful.
