NC First Lady to visit Tyrrell County on Saturday

Kristin Cooper, the First Lady of North Carolina, will visit Tyrrell County on Saturday, May 25.
She is scheduled to arrive at the Columbia Theatre at 11 a.m. for an opportunity to meet with Tyrrell County residents. Refreshments will be served, and all citizens are invited and encouraged to come meet the First Lady on her first official visit to Tyrrell County.
The First Lady will also tour the Pocosin School of Fine Craft and river roam on the Scuppernong River on the Partnership for the Sounds’ boat during her tour.
The First Lady will visit Tyrrell County in recognition of the 26th anniversary of the creation of the Partnership for the Sounds. The Partnership for the Sounds has facilities and programs in Tyrrell, Hyde, Beaufort and Bertie counties and operates the Tyrrell County Welcome Center, the Columbia Theatre and Scuppernong River Roaming in Tyrrell County.
The First Lady is a graduate of the Campbell University School of Law and worked at the NC General Assembly until her husband was elected to the NC House. She and Governor Roy Cooper are the parents of three daughters. She has served on the Board of the Raleigh Little Theatre, is a Guardian Ad Litem for at-risk children in Wake County and has served two terms on the Board of the NC Arts Council.
