Another baseball season has come and gone for Beaufort County, but it took a while to wind down. The Washington Pam Pack made a deep run in the 2-A state playoffs to the eastern regional finals, Southside and Pungo Christian Academy also made it into the playoffs, while Northside was just outside the playoff picture this season. Eastern Christian Home School had an admirable regular season, but did not participate in the post-season. Each of these teams has talent on the roster, but these players stood out as the best in the area.

FIRST TEAM ALL AREA:

Pitcher: Hunter Hall (Sr., Washington)

Hall impressed all season long with his pitching and his offense. Coming off being named WITN’s player of the week, he is a shoe-in for a first team selection. He had a season record of 10-1 on the hill. He pitched 63.1 innings with 111 strikeouts and boasts a 1.55 ERA, only allowed 18 runs, 14 of which were earned. Hall also led the Pam Pack in batting average, sitting at .431 on the year with 29 RBIs and 18 runs. Hall will go on to play college ball at Mid-Atlantic Christian University next spring.

Catcher: Robert Pollock (Soph., Washington)

Pollock burst onto the scene in his sophomore campaign. He batted an admirable .338 on the season with 25 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He also hit a home run in back-to-back games against Bear Grass in their Easter tournament victory and against Kinston on Senior Night.

First Base: Jeremiah Moore (Sr., Washington)

Moore was one of the leaders on the Pam Pack’s team this season. He batted .373 with 30 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He also flashed the glove at first base quite a few times this season and in the playoffs that might have cut the Pam Pack’s season short if he hadn’t of made those plays.

Second Base: Stephen Trainor (Sr., Eastern Christian Home School)

Trainor was a big part of TEACH’s offense this season. The senior batted .377 on the season, usually batting at the top of the lineup. He scored 20 runs and knocked in eight, as the Trailblazer’s finished with a 13-6 record on the season.

Shortstop: Will Warren (Sr., Southside)

Warren leads the area in batting average at .516. Pair that with a .589 on-base percentage. Warren finds himself on base quite a bit, resulting in 25 runs scored with 15 RBIs on the season. Warren also pitched in nine games this season. He will continue his baseball career with Mid-Atlantic Christian University next spring.

Third Base: Davis Porter (Sr., Southside)

Porter had a great season for the Seahawks. He batted .378 with a .541 on-base percentage, knocking in 11 RBIs and scoring 16 runs on the season. Porter also pitched 17 innings on the season for the Seahawks with a 4.53 ERA.

 

 

OF: Logan Everette (Sr., Washington)

Everette was a force at the plate and on the mound this season and is worthy of first team honors. He batted .411 on the season with a team-high of 30 runs scored and 15 RBIs. Everette was 5-3 from the mound this season with a 2.12 ERA. He struck out 101 batters in 46.1 innings pitched. He’ll continue his playing career at Campbell University next spring.

 

OF: Dawson Boyd (Sr., Northside)

Boyd was one of two seniors on the Panthers’ baseball team this year, but the only senior healthy enough to play. He batted .347 on the season with 16 runs and 6 RBI’s.

 

OF: Bryan Gutierrez (Fr., Southside)

The lone freshman on the first team, but is deserving of the honor with a .370 batting average on the year with 16 runs scored and 14 RBIs. Gutierrez also hit his first career home run against Riverside this season.

 

SECOND TEAM:

 

Pitcher: Ryan Ange (Fr., TEACH, 38.1 innings pitched, 1.83 ERA, 46 strikeouts)

 

Catcher: Carter Boyd (Jr., Northside, .232 BA, 8 runs, 6 RBIs)

 

 

First base: Colby Case (Sr., TEACH, .379 BA, 28 runs, 14 RBIs)

Second base: Cameron Craig (Soph., Northside, .300 BA, 21 runs, 9 RBIs)

Shortstop: Mason Weaver (Soph., Washington, .425 BA, 29 runs, 16 RBIs)

 

 

Third base: Ben Simmons (Sr., Pungo Christian Academy, .328 BA, 18 runs, 9 RBIs)

 

 

OF: Dylan Simmons (Fr., Pungo, .364 BA, 10 runs, 2 RBIs), Tyler Modlin (Soph., Northside, .268 BA, 17 runs, 5 RBIs), Nate Vannstaalduinen (Jr., Pungo, .267 BA, 25 runs, 12 RBIs)
HONORABLE MENTION:

Miller O’Neal (Jr., RHP, Pungo Christian), Wilson Peed (Sr., 2B, Washington), Douglas Dixon (Jr., 1B, Northside), Ryan Cornelius (Soph., OF/RHP, Northside)
