NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK: Former Southside High School Student Marcus Tisdale, right, recently presented the inaugural Needle in a Haystack Foundation Scholarship to SHS senior Simone Henry. Henry will enroll at Howard University this fall with the intent to major in Business Administration. Tisdale created the scholarship and the Needle in a Haystack Foundation to discover, incentivize, and develop underrepresented students so that they can have a better chance to become successful through the path of higher education. He created the scholarship to assist an underrepresented student who showed promise in the world of higher education. Tisdale attended the school in his freshman and sophomore years before going to the School of Science and Math in Durham for his junior and senior years. He is now a senior at NC State studying Engineering and is currently doing and internship with General Motors in Ohio.
