Washington’s Medical Park Pharmacy will close in July, the result of Medical Park Pharmacy’s purchase by CVS Pharmacy.

Medical Park Pharmacy group, Family Care Pharmacy Group and Havelock Drug are selling nine retail locations in eastern North Carolina to CVS, and six of those locations will be closed, according to a joint press release from Medical Park and CVS. Those slated to be closed in addition to the Washington location are: Medical Park Pharmacy West in Morehead City; Medical Park Pharmacy in Greenville; Medical Park Pharmacy East in Beaufort; Family Care Pharmacy in Jacksonville; and Havelock Drug Company in Havelock.

Pharmacy Manager Travis DuBois said the Washington store is letting its customers know about the pharmacy’s coming closure.

“Right now, I don’t have an exact date. We’ve been told sometime in the middle of the July. As we get closer to the time, we’ll find out more ourselves,” DuBois said.

All Washington Medical Park Pharmacy files and inventory will be transferred to CVS in Washington.

“CVS Pharmacy is working closely with the pharmacy group to ensure that the transition is seamless for patients and their access to pharmacy care is not interrupted,” the press release reads.

Medical Park Pharmacy first opened in Morehead in 1984; its Washington location on John Small Avenue opened in 2015. Prior to its opening, a Kerr Drug operated in the same location. CVS has more than 9,800 locations, and three of the nine stores purchased — Medical Park Pharmacy in Morehead City, Medical Park Pharmacy in Newport and Family Care Pharmacy in Swansboro — will remain in operation.

DuBois said several current Washington Medical Park Pharmacy employees will be making the transition to CVS. Any customer is welcome to call the store at 252-623-2100 if they have questions about the transition, he said.

Medical Park Pharmacy is located at 1316 John Small Ave.
