CHOCOWINITY — Part of a Beaufort County road will be closed for the next several months while contract crews replace a bridge.
Gray Road will be closed just south of N.C. Highway 33 while crews with S.T. Wooten replace a bridge between Maple Court and Benjamin Road in Chocowinity. The road closed July 22 and the project is expected to take 240 days.
During the construction, there will be a signed detour helping traffic get around the closure. The detour follows Price Road, U.S. Highway 17 and N.C. 33 to access Gray Road on either side of the work zone.
Drivers should be cautious near the work zone and anticipate it may take slightly longer to reach destinations in this area until the work is complete.
