Mrs. Mary Lucas Edwards, 88, of Bath, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019, at her home.

The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, at 11 a.m. in the Bath United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Bob Albritton and Rev. Bill Creech. There will be a private burial in Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville.

Mrs. Edwards, a native of Wilson County, attended Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College. She had been employed as a medical record keeper at the Wilson Clinic and later at Beaufort County Hospital. She had also worked with Abbott Laboratories in Laurinburg, in the Dominican Republic and in Puerto Rico. For the past 25 years, she had made her home in Bath, where she was a member of the Bath United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Edwards; her parents, Buck and Virgie Peterson Lucas; sisters, Alice Lucas and Eva Snipes; and brothers, Floyd Lucas, Coy Lucas and Elmer Lucas.

She is survived by her nieces, Wanda Snipes, Carlene Johnson and Myra Daniels and her nephews, Graylin Lucas and Edwin Lucas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bath United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 281, Bath, NC 27808.
