Mayor welcomes new business to downtown Washington

Washington Mayor Mac Hodges was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Tim Cat Place, LLC, a new unique boutique located in the 158 Suite of shops on West Main Street.

Hodges expressed his deep appreciation for Roy Hooker’s choosing to open this business in the downtown area.

“We always welcome new businesses in Washington. You enhance the downtown retail experience by being here, ” Hodges said.

Tim Cat Place offers a unique shopping experience for all clientele, according to shop designer Wendy Mills.

“We offer specialty soaps, body butters, essentials oils, fragrance oils, incense, home décor items, urban clothing, original artwork, and more,” Mills said.

The concept of Tim Cat Place was brought to life by cousins Roy Hooker and Wendy Mills as a way to honor the passing of Roy’s mother. As a child, Roy didn’t call his mother “Mom;” he preferred to call her “Tim,” which became a term of endearment to her; others called her “Cat,” short for Catherine — thus the name Tim Cat Place (Mama Catherine’s Place).

Tim Cat Place is dedicated to Catherine’s memory and is as unique as the lady herself.  The store logo even incorporates her favorite flower, the tiger lily, which she planted generously around the front porch of her home in Blounts Creek. Roy urges the community to come out and be blessed by the sense of peace, comfort and style Tim Cat Place can add to your life.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the beautiful Historic Downtown Washington, NC, shopping scene. We are ever so grateful to everyone who helped bring Tim Cat Place to life. Come see us at The Suites @ 158,” Hooker said.

Hours of operation are Thursdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5pm. Online shopping is available at www.TimCatPlace.com.
