A real, honest-to-goodness Southern fish fry will highlight the Labor Day Weekend Celebration at Norman Smith American Legion Beach on Saturday, August 31.

Everyone is invited to come and eat in or take out plates between 4 and 7 P.M. The meal is priced at $8, and sides include stewed potatoes, cole slaw, hushpuppies and a choice of tea, coffee, soft drink or water.

Tables and chairs will be set up in the air conditioned Post building and in the soundside pavilion for those who desire to eat on site with friends and neighbors.

The pier is available for boat mooring and swimming. Legion Beach is about six miles by water from Columbia or Snug Harbor.

Scuppernong Post 182 will also sponsor a 50/50 cash raffle.

The event location, adjacent to Albemarle Sound, is at 185 Legion Beach Road north of Columbia.

Advance tickets are available from any member of Post 182.

Proceeds will be used to further community projects. Post 182 sponsors or supports the local Boy Scout troop, Tyrrell County Parks & Recreation activities, Tyrrell County Public Library, Friends of the Tyrrell County Public Library, and the Tyrrell County Schools Scholarship Fund.
