A quick start propelled the Pam Pack to a 4-0 victory over the J.H. Rose Rampants in Greenville on Tuesday evening, marking their first win of the 2019 soccer season.

The Pam Pack wasted no time on the attack. Within the first five minutes, senior forward Elvin Elizalde made a run towards the box and was clipped from behind by a Rampants defender. Despite pleas of innocence, Brandon Cox buried the penalty kick to take the early 1-0 lead.

A few moments later, Bryan Martinez found perfect placement in the box, and buried a shot over the goalkeeper’s head for a 2-0 lead within the first ten minutes. The Pam Pack weren’t done in the first half, as a long ball was served up to Michael Reid, and a one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper was buried to take a commanding 3-0 lead before the break.

Despite the goal scoring, the Pam Pack played much of the game in their defensive area. However, they feasted on Rampant mistakes and turned it into fast break opportunities.

Towards the beginning of the second half, the Pam Pack put the game away as Elizalde took two defenders just outside the box and splashed it for the fourth a final goal of the match.

“Our goal was to win a game in Greenville and we got the one that we were looking for,” Pam Pack head coach Jim Kozuch said. “This field is huge, we wanted to use more of the field tonight and we did that.”

Despite the offensive production, the Pam Pack defense played lights out, as they have for all three of their games in Greenville so far this season. Pam Pack goalkeeper Will Crisp has made plenty of impressive saves so far this year, and he was the first to credit his four defenders so far this year.

“So far, the defense has been great. I can’t thank my four back guys enough, I couldn’t do it without them,” Crisp said. “I just make the saves if necessary and they just do the rest.”

The offense looked to be firing on all cylinders for the first time of the season on Tuesday night, and Elizalde was very emphatic after the game.

“We’ve played them the last two years,” Elizalde said. “Both times we wanted the fire, came in with the fire and left with the fire. Scoreboard says it all, let’s get some Chick-fil-a.”
