Mrs. Valeria Womble Drew, 89, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Sentara Nursing Center in Norfolk, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, with pastor Ken Cash officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Tommy Womble, Robert Womble Jr., Buddy Womble, Thomas Womble, Robert Fleming and Jack Drew will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Drew was born in Rocky Mount on April 21, 1918. She was the daughter of the late John Henry Womble and Mary Louise Padgett Womble. She was married to John Abner Drew, who preceded her in death in 1963. She had lived in the Norfolk and Portsmouth, Va., area for the past 70 years. She retired from J.C. Penney with 35 years of service. She was a member of Alliance Christian Church in Portsmouth, Va.
Survivors include one son, Herbert Martin Drew of Vidalia, Ga.; one daughter, Jacquelyn Louise Drew of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Womble of Washington; three grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Linwood Kaffer Womble, Lewis Henry Womble, Thomas C. Womble and John Henry Womble Jr.; and two sisters, Marie Waters and Kathleen Womble.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
