From Beaufort County Emergency Services

Beaufort County has transitioned into a recovery mode from Hurricane Dorian. Power outages continue across the county. Crews are working as quickly as possible to restore power. Do not approach downed power lines or work crews. Allow crews space to safely work. Consider all power lines energized and do not touch or come in contact with them.

Emergency Shelter

The emergency shelter at Washington High School (400 Slatestone Road, Washington) closes today at 10:30 a.m.

Salvation Army Feeding Station

Due to power outages, the Salvation Army will provide temporary feeding stations today only from Noon to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

• Belhaven Food Lion, 998 U.S. Highway 264 Bypass
• Sidney Fire Department, 6755 N. Savannah Road
• Old Piggly Wiggly – Aurora, 305 N. Fifth St.
• Former Hobby Shop – Blounts Creek, 13813 N.C. Highway 33

Damage Assessment Tool
Beaufort County residents can assist in the recovery process by self-reporting damage of their residential or business property. This information will be sent to FEMA to determine if additional federal assistance can be provided. Reporting can be done on a mobile device or computer.

1. On the first screen you will enter the address of the property.
2. On the second screen you will enter your contact information. You do not have to provide this information if you do not want.
3. On the third screen you will enter the level of damage.
4. On the forth screen you will upload a picture of the damage. You do not have to upload a picture if you do not want.
5. On the last screen you will confirm the previously entered information and submit the form.

Recovery Needs Hotline

The following number, 252-940-6517, has been established to receive recovery need requests. If you have a recovery need, please call this number and leave your name, address, phone number and a brief description of your need. You will be contacted by the long-term recovery coordinator to discuss your need.

Please continue to take every action available to keep you and your family safe. Do not become complacent during recovery. Hazards continue to exist.
