Hugh Robert Maxwell, 84, of 2595 Lake Shore Road, Creswell, NC, died Saturday, September 7, 2019, in his home.

Mr. Maxwell was born in Champaign, IL on June 16, 1935, and was the son of the late Rolland and Catherine Rife Maxwell. The retired owner and operator of both Double M. Seed Co. and Somerset Equipment Co., he was a member of Philippi Church of Christ where he had served as a deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Maxwell.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 62 years, Guilia Bryant Maxwell; a daughter, Sherri Maxwell and husband, Thomas Duquette, of Cross Plains, TX; two sons, Douglas Maxwell and wife, Charlotte, of Creswell and Barry Maxwell of Boone; three grandsons, Robert, Mike, and James; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21 st , at 7 p.m. in Philippi Church of Christ. Friends may join the family in the church for a time of visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund of Philippi Church, 74 Old Cherry Road, Creswell, NC 27928.
