Beaufort County teams put up a lot of points this past week. The Southside Seahawks put up 41 in their victory over North Duplin, Washington won 46-15, and the Northside Panthers put up 28 in their loss to Manteo. So, there were plenty of performances that were worthy of recognition this past week.
For starters, Southside’s Davion Carter rushed for 194 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. That’s an average of 12.1 yards per carry and a season-high for the Seahawks senior. Carter also had a fourth quarter sack that set North Duplin back deep in their own territory and forced a punt.
Kenjray Coffield was another top performer in the Seahawks victory. On the first play from scrimmage, Hundley Stallings dumped off a pass in the flat to Coffield and he raced for a 79-yard touchdown. Coffield also carried the ball 11 times for 74 yards and a rushing touchdown. The sophomore also led the team defensively with eight tackles.
The Pam Pack had plenty to cheer about on Friday night, as they gained close to 400 yards rushing. Jaden Hambric led the team in rushing with 171 yards and a score.
Antwone Godley clipped the century mark in rushing on Friday night, earning exactly 100 yards with a 53-yard touchdown run.
Terry Moore also contributed to the Pam Pack’s big night on the ground, rushing for 140 yards and a touchdown in the second half.
Juan Rosario caught a few passes from Godley on Friday night, one in which was a 63-yard toss in the first half for the first score of the game. On the next drive, Godley connected with Isaac Roberson Cooper for a touchdown.
The Northside Panthers fell just short on Friday night, dropping a road contest to Manteo despite a back and forth affair early on. The Panthers couldn’t get much going on the ground, but James Gorham did break free for a 65-yard run and a touchdown on the evening.
Carter Boyd was 8-for-18 tossing the pigskin with 242 yards and three touchdowns on the night. Tyler Modlin caught four of those passes and galloped for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Turner caught two passes, one that went for a 58-yard touchdown. Payton Woolard chipped in with a catch for 59 yards as well. The Panthers have scored at least 21 points in all five of their contests so far this season.
As teams head into week six, all area teams will begin a brand new season as conference play kicks off.
