N.W. “Bill” Worsley II

Mr. Nathan Wilbur “Bill” Worsley II, age 87, a resident of Lawson Road, Washington, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at the First Christian Church, 307 E. Third St., Washington.
Mr. Worsley was born in Oak City, North Carolina, on June 17, 1932. He was the son of the late Nathan Wilbur Worsley and Margaret Earle Barrett Worsley. Mr. Worsley graduated from North Carolina State University, interrupting his studies to serve in the Army. Upon graduation, he worked in the agricultural services field, arriving in Washington as an assistant county agent with the agricultural extension service. He later managed farmland and a fertilizer plant. Mr. Worsley later worked in real estate. He served as Executive Director of the Washington/Beaufort County Board of Realtors until his retirement.
Mr. Worsley was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as an Elder, moderator and member of the Hand Bell Choir, Disciples Sunday School Class, Christian Men’s Fellowship and Peanut Ministry. He chaperoned several youth mission trips where he affectionately earned the nickname “Buzzard.” He was a member and past-president of the Lions Club. Mr. Worsley was a member of the Beaufort County Wolfpack Club and served as chairman of the City of Washington Board of Adjustment. He was known for performing magic tricks at a moment’s notice.
On Dec. 1, 1957, Mr. Worsley married the former Jane Edwards.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Carolyn Worsley, of Chapel Hill, Margie Worsley Moore (and her husband John), of Farmville, Jo Jo Worsley (and her fiancée Cappy Sermons), of Washington; one son, Bill Worsley (and his wife Holly) of Davidson; grandchildren, Caroline Lawson (and her husband Patch), of Chattanooga, Tennesee, Luke Stroud, of Raleigh, Cameron and Chad Moore, of Farmville, Summer Moore (deceased), Nathan Worsley, of Washington, Hollins, Will, Campbell and Dillon Worsley, of Davidson; and great-grandchildren, Ware and Emme Lawson, of Chattanooga, Tennesee, Makaleigh, Ryne and Taylor-Jane Moore, of Farmville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Worsley, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Worsley was preceded in death by his beloved brothers and sisters, Doak Worsley (and his wife Nell), Buzz Worsley, Janet Worsley, Rebecca Green (and her husband David), and Anne Hart (and her husband Ed).
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
