From Hyde County Schools

Recently, Mary Grace Williams, Holden Williams, Kara Williams, Brooke Williams and Jackson Gibbs, from the Mattamuskeet FFA chapter, headed to the North Carolina FFA Center at White Lake to participate in the fifth-annual wildlife camp.

The purpose of this event is to give FFA members a hands-on learning environment in a variety of areas of wildlife, resources conservation and careers in the field.

The weekend was filled with a variety of activities including lure making, crossbow, wildlife conservation, decoy making and skeet shooting.

During the evenings, students heard from professionals in the wildlife field including wildlife officers, professional hunters and park rangers about their careers and the benefits of conserving wildlife.

These five students had an amazing time at wildlife camp and even learned how to play the age old game of four square. Nothing but high remarks about their experiences were the highlight of conversation the whole way home.
