From Hyde County Schools

Senior BETA students at Mattamuskeet Early College High School attended the BETA Leadership Summit in Williamsburg, Virginia, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1. They attended several leadership sessions and competed in “Lead Outside the Box”.

When they signed in, they were given a real-world scenario they had to solve. The next morning, they had two minutes to present how they solved the problem, followed by a question/answer segment. They were judged on the creativity of solution, collaboration, communication of ideas and presentation skills.

Students did an outstanding job. They competed against nine other teams from schools in North Carolina and Virginia and came in first and qualified to go to Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas.
