To the Editor:

Are there any Americans, today, who are willing to contribute to help their country in this debt crisis?

The well-to-do want more tax breaks, and ask others to give up entitlements and jobs in the public sector.

Those less affluent hold on tight to what they have and look to the rich to pay.

And the great majority of Americans appear to be quite satisfied to let the relatively small number of those in the armed services risk their lives to convince tribal Afghans of the virtues of Western Democracy … while showing their support for our forces by sporting a colorful bumper sticker.
