From Pamlico Writers’ Group
April 3-4, 2020, the Pamlico Writers’ Group will once again offer its annual writers’ conference at the historic Turnage Theatre in Washington. This year’s theme is “Writer Blocks — Building Your Vision.”
The conference will host well-known literary figure and North Carolina’s Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green as its keynote speaker on April 3. In addition to the keynote, there will be an onstage selection of the 2020 Heart of the Pamlico Poet Laureate. April 4 will offer engaging workshops for all writing levels, delivered by a wide variety of well-seasoned presenters.
The Pamlico Writers’ Conference is an intentionally small (100 registrant max), low-registration fee conference. Our mission is to provide classroom sessions designed to improve writing quality and to facilitate networking and author/publisher contact. Since its origin in 2013, the conference has grown from small numbers of local participants to attendees from Virginia, Georgia and more than 25 North Carolina communities.
As you can imagine, good talent is costly. The Pamlico Writers’ Group invites you to help sponsor our 2020 Writers’ Conference. Your sponsorship will not only help subsidize our conference but will expose you and/or your business to an influential demographic of the eastern North Carolina cultural community.
In 2017, the Pamlico Writers’ Group became an affiliate member of Arts of the Pamlico, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-deductible organization. As an affiliate, the group enjoys nonprofit status. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation by March 15 to the Pamlico Writers’ Group, c/o Kaylene Wilson, Treasurer, 29 York St., Washington, NC 27889, or visit our website at
