Dorothy Elizabeth Sawyer Equils

Dorothy Elizabeth Sawyer Equils, 83, of Washington, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Equils was born in Hyde County on Nov. 4, 1936, to the late Richard Bernard and Alice Sawyer. She was married to William Medford Equils, who survives.

She was a homemaker and a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, doing crafts, ceramics and watching QVC. She was known for her delicious cooking, especially her spaghetti.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Linwood Adams will officiate.

In addition to her husband, surviving is a daughter, Debbie Sawyer (Jerry); a son, Barry Equils, (Lou); three grandchildren, Ashley Crouse (Daniel), Savannah Equils, Tanner Equils; two great-grandchildren, Noah Cutrell and Brynn E. Crouse; a sister, Edith Fay Gibbs (David); a half-brother, Richard Sawyer; and a niece, Audrey Lumsden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepfather, Ellis Sadler.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
