At approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the Washington Police Department and Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident involving a Beaufort Area Transit System bus and a moped. The accident occurred at the intersection of North Market and East Seventh streets in Washington. Washington EMS transported the driver of the moped to Vidant Beaufort Hospital after the wreck. According to Washington Police and Fire Services Director Stacy Drakeford, the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.
