Mr. Jimmy Lee Cox, age 82, of Belhaven, died Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2019, at Vidant Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Belhaven, officiated by Pastor Chris Noble. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born in Hyde County, son of the late Ottis Lee Cox and Lula Mae Cuthrell Cox. He graduated from Engelhard High School in 1956. Mr. Cox was the owner/operator of Cox Chevrolet in Belhaven for 25 years. He has been a salesman in the auto industry for more than 56 years and most recently a salesman with Lee Chevrolet. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Belhaven Masonic Lodge #509.
On June 28, 1956, he married the former Victoria L. Ruark who survives. Surviving with his wife are his children, Victor Lee Cox and wife Mary and Deborah Cox Johnson and husband Ricky; two granddaughters, Rebecca Cox Spencer and husband Daniel and Hannah V. Cox, both of Manteo; and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Landon Spencer.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven.
