The Tyrrell County Genealogical and Historical Society will be holding their January meeting on Sunday, January 26, at 2:30 pm. The featured speaker will be Chuck Alexander, who will be giving a presentation on the 32nd NC Regiment of the

Confederate Army. This Regiment was mostly made up of Tyrrell County men, many of who formed the Scuppernong Grays in 1861.

Chuck Alexander was born in Edenton, NC. He is the 13th generation of Alexanders born on the Albemarle Sound. Alexander grew up in various States, living in eight States and traveling through all 48 in the continental United States. In addition he has traveled to 23 foreign countries, living for a time in Italy and Australia. He attended Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida and the University of Tasmania in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia where he studied biology, anthropology with a concentration in archaeology and nursing.

Alexander moved back to Edenton in 2016 so that he could assist his parents. He is currently living in Elizabeth City where he works as an armed security officer for the U.S. Coast Guard. He has published four books and is currently co-authoring a fiction novel with his oldest son.

The Tyrrell County Genealogical and Historical Society meets the 4th Sunday of each month, except for November and December, at the Senior Citizen’s Center located in Columbia, NC at 406 Bridge Street. All meetings are free and open to the public.
