Dimple S. Roughton

Dimple Mae Spencer Roughton, 99 of Columbia died, Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Vidant Chowan Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Dimple was born in Pasquotank County, on December 3, 1920 to the late Julian McKinley and Gertinia Liverman Spencer. She was married to Morris Wesley Roughton who preceded her in death.

She was a long-time member of Albemarle Church of Christ, she enjoyed spending time with her family eating a Hershey’s Chocolate Bar and Jellybeans.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Albemarle Church of Christ. Keith Hamm will officiate. Burial will follow at Azalea Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are two daughters, Gay Davenport and husband Joseph of Columbia, Teanie Mae Armstrong of Columbia; a son, Wayne M. Roughton of Columbia; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren, and two great great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, T.J. Spencer, Jack Spencer, and a sister Hazel Dean Parisher.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Albemarle Church of Christ.
