Terry Somers was named Tyrrell County’s Employee of the Year by her fellow workers and recognized on Jan. 14 by the county manager and board of commissioners. Somers is a finance and human resources technician and has been in the county’s employ for 13 years. Born in Akron, Ohio, she grew up on Vanceboro. “It was a complete surprise,” she said of the award.
