Scuppernong Reminder—Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

The anti-gun movement resembles the viruses that come out of China periodically in that they flare up, recede and come back stronger, but in a slightly different form.

Virginia is trying to ban popular home and sporting guns, magazines over 10-round capacity and a whole host of other items that will only hurt legitimate gun owners. These brilliant thinkers behind all of these seem to forget about the S.S. tactics of the B.A.T.F.E. that earned them ninety-four major complaints before Ruby Ridge, Idaho and Waco, Texas. Have they heard of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising in 1944 where the Jews decided to fight back instead of going to the gas chambers and held off the best Nazi troops with junk ammo for six weeks?

Maybe the gun free zone that is Chicago would prove their point. Or better yet our next-door neighbor, Mexico, might. It abolished all gun ownership in 1972 and as of the first nine months of 2019 had 25,890 murders. Or New Orleans during Katrina when the police disarmed honest citizens trying to protect themselves from looters. The Korean store owners who defended their properties against looters in Los Angeles during the riots wouldn’t fit their pattern either.

To the gun owners of eastern North Carolina: let’s start a sanctuary movement where guns are protected by local laws as is being done in Virginia.

Comments please.
