Mrs. Betty Lou Tyson Beacham, age 70, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, April 16, 2020, at her home.
A private graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Jeff Necessary. Pallbearers include John Waters, Randy Tyson, Lloyd Tyson, Mike Hill, Mike Donnelly and Daniel Waters.
Mrs. Beacham was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 13, 1949, to the late John Scott and Beatrice Jones Tyson. She was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Beaufort County Community College for two years. On Aug. 15, 1971, she married Michael Taylor Beacham, who survives.
Mrs. Beacham worked as a secretary in the library at Beaufort County Community College until her retirement in 2014. She was a member of Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and a member of Women Active for Christ.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Tessa B. Spruill and husband Mike; a grandson, Ian Spruill; four step-grandchildren, Megan Hodges, Josh Spruill and significant other Kayla Vargo, Michael Spruill, Jacob Spruill; five step-great-grandchildren, James Bright III, Hayden Spruill, Carson Hodges, Landon Hodges, Kairi Spruill; four siblings, Russell Tyson and wife Janice, Herman Tyson, Hazel Waters, Earl Tyson; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by twin daughters, Tonya Michelle Beacham and Heather Dawn Beacham, and a sister, Elizabeth Kornegay.
