With bright yellow head and chest flashing color along the forest edge, Prothonotary Warblers (protonotaria citrea) have returned to Alligator River Refuge in large numbers. They nest in tree cavities or other opportune nesting hollows, frequently near water. Their main diet consist of spiders and insects, such as ants, butterflies, grasshoppers, flies, moths and beetles.
