“This is a great way to start your Monday!” Superintendent Oliver Holley emailed Tyrrell Schools staff members on April 20.
He had just learned that Tyrrell Elementary School, Columbia Middle School, and Columbia Early College High School are all fully accredited.
“I would like to thank Mrs. Cynthia Debreaux for her leadership as Accreditation Chair during our recent Cognia District Review, which began in May 2018,” Holley reported. Debreaux is the school district’s Director of Student Services.
Holley complimented the hard work of staff members, students and community in completing the review.
“Accreditation matters because our students deserve the highest level of educational excellence possible,” the superintendent said.
The accreditation comes from Cognia, based in Alpharetta, Georgia, a network of educators that works with schools and systems of all types and sizes across the globe to assess the quality of institution.
Cognia provides an explicit set of standards and criteria for accreditation and certification. Meeting and exceeding those standards results in a valuable recognition of excellence.
Cognia teams gather evidence about the quality of the local learning environments using Cognia’s performance standards and research instruments. A thorough report gives the local school officials a broad understanding and detailed insights into where the school or district excels and where they need to invest resources.
