Scuppernong Post 182 of The American Legion has canceled its May 11 monthly meeting “just to be on the safe side of things,” said Commander Leroy Spivey. “We do not know what our Governor is going to do after the current guidelines expire on May 8.”
American Legion posts normally elect officers in April, but Post 182 did not meet last months.
State Legion officials in Raleigh advised Spivey that the current officers may continue in office for another year if they choose to do so.
Spivey reported that all officers agreed to remain at their posts until next spring’s elections.
