The Tyrrell County Board of Education has posted an online survey to ascertain residents’ “comfort level in returning to school in fall 2020.”

Responses should be based on health and not the need for student instruction, according to Audrey Curles, Instructional Technology Director for the school district.

The board is committed to providing a safe learning and working environment for all, she added, and the survey answers will aid in achieving that goal.

The pertinent question is multiple choice. It wants to know your comfort level. Below are the choices:

– Extremely comfortable: ready to return with appropriate health and safety measures in place

– Comfortable: ready to return but cautious.

– Uncomfortable: not certain/unsure and want to review all CDC health and safety measures

– Extremely uncomfortable: not ready to return for face-to-face instruction

The one-page survey instrument can be found at

The survey is not restricted to parents but asks for input from the community at large.

School officials are hoping for widespread response.
